Care for a creepy creature in your basement

Growing My Grandpa! is a horror adventure game from Yames that puts an eerie twist on your typical virtual pet games. Rather than a common home pet, you will be raising a creature referred to as “Grandpa” by feeding and interacting with him in this point-and-click game.

Growing My Grandpa! is similar to The Theater - A Creepypasta Legend, where you need to find clues and certain items in order to uncover the hidden secrets of this creepy area. It’s also important to note that this game also contains mature themes involving body horror, blood, and gore.

A thrilling and immersive experience

Growing My Grandpa! focuses on a bone-chilling storyline with two possible endings. The choices you make and how you interact with the mysterious entity will have a hand in determining what sort of ending you’ll get. This game also makes use of an incredibly creepy soundtrack that adds to the overall thrill and feel of the game in order to fully immerse yourself in the setting.

Although the story starts off a bit slowly, the beginning of the game provides a good amount of lore and information. The thick and substantial plot is paired with retro-style 3D graphics that are reminiscent of your classic horror games. Grandpa’s character is also presented in a way that reminds the player of a twisted version of a virtual pet.

Something to note though is that some of the text in the game is quite difficult to read. You can see this when the text is placed in areas with low lighting. There are also issues regarding the game crashing at certain points. The crashes typically happen when interacting with Grandpa, such as when you have to teach him how to speak and during some of the other mini-games.

Needs polishing but still great

Even though Growing My Grandpa! features some issues with the interface and bugs that cause it to crash, the compelling storyline completely hooks you in regardless. With spooky graphics and unsettling interactions with the creature in your basement, this game creates a terrifyingly unique experience that you can’t help but want to play. Try to play through the different routes and discover the truth behind this entity.
